This variant has been designed for those who don't feel like tackling the ascent and descent from Monte Cognolo or in case of bad weather, which would make the stretch of the main route more difficult to tackle.
The stage is the same as that of the main route up to the town of Monticelli. After passing the Castel Veder viewpoint, the two roads branch off. The lower variant still crosses a stretch of the Municipality of Monticelli, passes by Provezze (fraction of Provaglio d'Iseo) and then rejoins the main route in front of the Municipality of Provaglio. The view, even if from below, with the mountains overhanging the lake and the peat bogs is still worthwhile.
