Prepare for the walk

How to train

In Via delle Sorelle there are some stages characterised by climbs and descents that should not be underestimated. We are not in the mountains, but the total difference in height of the route is around 3,800 metres. So, before you set out, we recommend that you train, both on uphill stretches and on long distances. Also, if possible, practice several days in a row to see how your body reacts.

Trails

Due to weather, climate, and terrain, some trails are more problematic to maintain than others. So, in certain seasons you may find them muddy and more challenging to walk on. Municipalities are continuing to work to improve them, but please be patient if you find small holes, mud, or brambles in some sections. We are all volunteers and are trying to do the best we can, but it takes time and we are still a very young organisation!

How to plan accommodation

We recommend that you book in advance, especially during long weekends and holidays. At the moment, there is no fixed rate set; the facilities decide prices autonomously, but they guarantee benefits and discounts if you have the credential.

Luggage transport service

The luggage transport service is only possible for travelers with a credential who travel “La Via delle Sorelle”. The luggage is transported from one stop point to another, allowing you to enjoy the experience of the walk, with less weight on your shoulders. It is necessary to book the luggage transport service at least 20 days in advance. Reservations must be made by email by writing to info@laviadellesorelle.it indicating the number of backpacks to carry and the exact program of the walk with names and contact details of the facilities

In order not to get lost

We have tried to mark Via delle Sorelle as best we can, but we recommend that you download the route’s GPX tracks for any possible doubts and make sure you can view them offline as well, because your cell phone will not always get reception.

Backpack and equipment

Here is a useful (and totally customisable) list of everything you will need to walk Via delle Sorelle. Each stage of this route is different; there are flat stretches as well as climbs and descents. Therefore, preparing your backpack and having the right gear is essential!
