In every route there is a challenging stage which puts your legs and mind to the test. For Via delle Sorelle, it’s stage 2. After passing through the municipalities of Rodengo Saiano and its historic abbey, Ome and its Borgo del Maglio (forge), Monticelli and Sentiero delle Cascate (Waterfall) trail, the route leads you toward the summit of Monte Cognolo to enjoy the most spectacular view of the entire Via. From there, you attack the steep descent to Madonna del Corno in Provaglio d'Iseo, a 16th-century church overlooking the Torbiere del Sebino Peat Bog Nature Reserve.
The second stage begins in Gussago and passes by Colle Barbisone, but a detour allows you to reach the former Dominican complex of Santissima, an evocative viewpoint. The route then proceeds until the municipality of Rodengo-Saiano, stretching alongside the Gandovere stream and passing in front of the ancient Olivetan Abbey. Via delle Sorelle proceeds inside Bosco delle Querce di Ome (oak park), crosses Borgo del Maglio and reaches the castle of Monticelli Brusati. From there, you climb in the direction of Iseo to reach the summit of Monte Cognolo. Once at the top, you continue toward one of the most striking places on the Via, Corno del Creilì peak, from which there is a spectacular view of Lake Iseo and Montisola - the largest lake island in Europe - Torbiere del Sebino Peat Bog Reserve, and the surrounding hills and peaks. Once you have enjoyed the view, a steep descent leads down to Madonna del Corno in Provaglio d'Iseo, with views of Franciacorta and the Torbiere del Sebino Peat Bog Reserve. From here, finally, you descend to the village of Provaglio d'Iseo.
