STAGE 3 - Bagnatica, Costa di Mezzate, Montello, San Paolo D’Argon, Carobbio degli Angeli, Gorlago, Gandosso, Castelli Calepio, Credaro, Villongo, Sarnico

  • Start: Bagnatica
  • Arrival: Sarnico
  • Total Length: 21,2 km
  • Difficulty by Foot: Medium
  • Climb up: 580 m

Stage 3 takes you to the natural non-boundary between the two provinces, Lake Iseo and the river that feeds it, Oglio. This is a moderately challenging stage because it includes two mountains, Monte Castello and Monte Croce. Nature here is wild and sometimes impetuous, but this is also what makes these trails so beautiful.
The third stage starts from Bagnatica, passes Casello San Marco, an old farm at the foot of Monte Tomenone and, from the slopes of the hill, briefly enters the fields of San Paolo d'Argon. After reaching the municipality of Gorlago, you follow Cherio River and take CAI trail No. 650, which crosses Colle degli Angeli and the Montecchi and Malmera parks. Here, after passing Monte del Castello and Monte della Croce via CAI path no. 701, you continue toward Credaro passing through the towns of Gandosso and Castelli Calepio. You then enter the Val Calepio wine-growing area, which, with its vineyards, marks the way to Lake Iseo. Reaching the historic centre of the town of Credaro - from here, a detour is also available to visit the cycle of frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto kept in the Church of San Giorgio, the Church of San Fermo and Castel Trebecco - you continue along the Oglio River and then proceed on the Sottocorna bike/pedestrian path to Villongo and head toward Sarnico, a town overlooking Lake Iseo, the final destination of the stage.
