This variation has been designed for those who don't feel like tackling the descent from Monte Maddalena via steep path no. 10 which connects Monte to the Mompiano Valley. Or in case of bad weather, which would make the section of the main route more difficult to tackle. The stage is the same as that of the main route up to the end of Via Goletto. Then the roads branch off. The lower variant continues on Via Costalunga to get to Mompiano, where it will join up with the main route at the end of via Dabbeni near the Mompiano Valley.
